Slovenia started brightly and had the better of the chances in the first half. However, Serbia grew into the game and had a few good chances of their own. The deadlock was finally broken in the 80th minute when Karnicnik headed home from a corner.
Serbia Fight Back
Serbia refused to give up and threw everything forward in search of an equalizer. Their efforts were rewarded in the 94th minute when Mitrovic pounced on a loose ball in the box and fired home. The goal sparked wild celebrations among the Serbian players and fans.
The result leaves both teams with a point after the first round of matches in Group B. Serbia will next face Denmark, while Slovenia will take on England.
