The city of Dawson Creek takes its name from Dr. WEB Dawson, an explorer who led the first engineering expedition to find a pass through the Rocky Mountains for a railway to connect British Columbia with the rest of Canada.
Incorporation and Growth
In 1958, Dawson Creek was officially incorporated as a city, marking a significant milestone in its development. Since then, the city has experienced substantial growth, reaching a population of 11,583 in 2011.
