Claypool Dolphins Trade

Dolphins Trade for Claypool, Place Armstead on IR

Miami Sends Draft Pick to Bears for Embattled Receiver

Armstead to Miss Time with Toe Injury

The Miami Dolphins have acquired wide receiver Chase Claypool from the Chicago Bears in exchange for a draft pick, the team announced Friday. The move comes as the Dolphins placed starting left tackle Terron Armstead on injured reserve due to a toe injury.

Claypool, a first-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2020, has struggled to live up to expectations in Chicago. The 24-year-old receiver had just 34 receptions for 385 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games with the Bears this season.

The Dolphins are hoping that a change of scenery will help Claypool rediscover his form. The former Notre Dame standout has the potential to be a dynamic playmaker, but he needs to be more consistent in his performance.

Armastead, meanwhile, has been dealing with a toe injury that has limited him to just four games this season. The 31-year-old tackle is one of the best in the NFL when healthy, but his injury history has been a concern.

The Dolphins are expected to be without Armstead for at least four weeks. The team will likely turn to rookie tackle Brandon Shell to fill in for Armstead in the meantime.
